Class Representatives

A central role for families

Parents are the beating heart of our independent, non-political, and secular association. Their involvement is essential to ensure that the real needs of families are heard and considered in all our actions. We warmly encourage all parents to join our association to contribute to its development and its core mission: representing the interests of families at the Lycée Français Charles de Gaulle (“LFCG”).

Your voice matters, your experience is valuable, and your commitment can make a difference. Whether you have a few hours a month to spare or wish to get more deeply involved, there is a place for everyone in our association.

Together, let’s build an association that truly meets the needs of families and champions their interests.

The class representative parent participates in the life of their class, acting as a liaison between the school and parents, and helping to coordinate with the teacher.
For example, they assist in finding volunteers for class outings and ensure that messages are effectively communicated.

At CIPL, class representative parents also have the opportunity to stand as candidates for the School Councilin October. Elected representatives meet at least once per term and participate in all decisions related to school life. They can propose improvements on topics such as:

  • Pedagogical structures;
  • The organisation of school time and the academic calendar;
  • Specific initiatives to ensure better use of the resources allocated to the school and its adaptation to its environment;
  • Arrangements for the education of pupils with special educational needs;
  • Projects and organisation of educational discovery trips;
  • Issues related to hygiene, health, and safety of pupils within the school and extracurricular settings;
  • Principles for selecting teaching materials and tools;
  • Matters concerning the reception and information provided to parents, as well as the general arrangements for their involvement in school life.

The class representative parent relays messages from the class teacher and parent associations to the parents of the class, as they are often the main point of contact for specific activities, such as school outings requiring volunteer chaperones.

Class representative parents, two per class (plus two alternates) participate in the Class Council meetings held each term.
They can address any concerns affecting families, such as the classroom environment, discipline, timetable, classwork, homework, end-of-year exams, career guidance, and future opportunities.
The Class Council reviews the academic results achieved by pupils and the guidance recommendations made by the teaching staff. Based on these and considering all educational, medical, and social factors provided by its members, the Class Council assesses each pupil’s academic progress to better support them in their educational journey, both in advancing their learning within a cycle, transitioning between cycles, and developing their personal project.

Beyond contributions made during the Class Council, a report (excluding any individual cases) may be drafted by the parents and shared with families, in line with the duty of confidentiality they are required to uphold.
