Significant first step in correcting fees paid by our school to AEFE

We informed you on 20 March that we had written to the AEFE following an analysis carried out by your elected CIPL representatives. This analysis identified a potential error in the VAT treatment applied to the basis of contributions levied on our school under the PFC (Participation Forfaitaire Complémentaire). This contribution had risen sharply (+27%) in the 2026 budget, without any immediate explanation being provided during our budget meetings or Conseil d’Établissement.

We are pleased to inform you that the AEFE has responded to our letter (response attached) and confirmed that a correction will be made.
The amount of this correction is significant: it is equivalent to more than half of the 2% increase and exceeds the total cost of the planned safety works (fire doors, fire detectors, Victor Hugo building lift: £250k).

Your elected CIPL representatives welcome this outcome, which demonstrates that our thoroughness and detailed analysis can improve the financial position of our school.

However, we are surprised that the impact of this revision has not led as we had logically requested to a review of the planned increase in school fees for the 2026-2027 academic year. Since this contribution is paid by families through their school fees, it seems only fair that any overpayment should be returned to them after several years of substantial fee increases.

This is why we are continuing our efforts with the AEFE and, as a precaution, on 27 March 2026 we filed an application for annulment together with an application for suspensive relief before the Administrative Tribunal of Montreuil, in order to protect the rights of families. Our strong preference remains a friendly resolution with the AEFE, and we will of course keep you informed of any developments.
