FAQ
Why did we create CIPL?
The existing parents' association does an excellent job in terms of charitable activities, the forum of professions, the forum of higher studies and many other such initiatives. A large number of parents voiced concerns that it was no longer able to be a faithful representative of parents' concerns on important topics, such as the continuing increases in base school fees and the impact of the ongoing refurbishment works on children's wellbeing. On various forums, parents urged us to consider creating another parents' association that is independent and can be a faithful representative of their concerns. We listened to you, and we created CIPL for you.
How can you help CIPL?
At CIPL, there is room for all LFCG parents. We are a diverse and inclusive organisation that welcomes all perspectives. You can be a simple member of CIPL and raise your concerns and constructive suggestions to our attention. You can be a parent representative for a class or a parent coordinator for a year group. You can be a member of the committee if you wish to participate in the various official school councils and committees. You can volunteer to create a particular charitable activity or event. Being a new organisation, we welcome your ideas and your contributions. small or large. So whether French is your native language or you prefer to communicate in English, we are here for you and welcome your involvement at any level that suits you.
What is CIPL's governance structure?
As a Charitable Incorporated Organisation, our association is governed by a Board of Trustees Over time, we intend to grow the number of Trustees, that are elected by all members of the CIO. Our day-to-day activities will be governed by a Committee whose governance structure is currently being finalised and we warmly welcome your suggestions. Governance, appointments, and elections will be transparent and participatory. We aim for CIPL to attract motivated parents with a range of skills who want to make a difference in our children’s lives. We believe that transparency, diversity, and competence are the pillars of good governance.
How does CIPL plan to work with the existing parent association?
With 3,500 students and over 4,500 parents, LFCG is the largest school of any type in the U.K. There is room for two parents' associations and indeed this has been the case in the past. We seek a constructive partnership with the existing association. Each of us brings complementary competencies to the table, and if we work well together, we believe parents and students will benefit greatly. We have profound respect and gratitude for the work that has been accomplished, in particular on the charitable side, and we look forward to supporting and complementing their team.
