Class Representatives
A central role for families
Parents are the beating heart of our independent, non-political, and secular association. Their involvement is essential to ensure that the real needs of families are heard and considered in all our actions. We warmly encourage all parents to join our association to contribute to its development and its core mission: representing the interests of families at the Lycée Français Charles de Gaulle (“LFCG”).
Your voice matters, your experience is valuable, and your commitment can make a difference. Whether you have a few hours a month to spare or wish to get more deeply involved, there is a place for everyone in our association.
Together, let’s build an association that truly meets the needs of families and champions their interests.

More details on the role
Your commitment
The role of delegate carriesa duty of confidentiality regarding personal information of families.
The class representative parent participates in the life of their class, acting as a liaison between the school and parents, and helping to coordinate with the teacher.
For example, they assist in finding volunteers for class outings and ensure that messages are effectively communicated.
At CIPL, class representative parents also have the opportunity to stand as candidates for the School Councilin October. Elected representatives meet at least once per term and participate in all decisions related to school life. They can propose improvements on topics such as:
- Pedagogical structures;
- The organisation of school time and the academic calendar;
- Specific initiatives to ensure better use of the resources allocated to the school and its adaptation to its environment;
- Arrangements for the education of pupils with special educational needs;
- Projects and organisation of educational discovery trips;
- Issues related to hygiene, health, and safety of pupils within the school and extracurricular settings;
- Principles for selecting teaching materials and tools;
- Matters concerning the reception and information provided to parents, as well as the general arrangements for their involvement in school life.
The class representative parent relays messages from the class teacher and parent associations to the parents of the class, as they are often the main point of contact for specific activities, such as school outings requiring volunteer chaperones.
Class representative parents, two per class (plus two alternates) participate in the Class Council meetings held each term.
They can address any concerns affecting families, such as the classroom environment, discipline, timetable, classwork, homework, end-of-year exams, career guidance, and future opportunities.
The Class Council reviews the academic results achieved by pupils and the guidance recommendations made by the teaching staff. Based on these and considering all educational, medical, and social factors provided by its members, the Class Council assesses each pupil’s academic progress to better support them in their educational journey, both in advancing their learning within a cycle, transitioning between cycles, and developing their personal project.
Beyond contributions made during the Class Council, a report (excluding any individual cases) may be drafted by the parents and shared with families, in line with the duty of confidentiality they are required to uphold.
A Force for Proposal and Innovation
Proposing Practical Solutions
Parents, facing daily family realities, are often best placed to identify issues and respond with practical solutions.
We encourage all members to share their ideas, suggestions for improvement, and proposed solutions. Every contribution matters and can lead to tangible actions.
Initiating and Leading Projects
The association actively supports parents who wish to develop innovative projects.
Whether it’s addressing a specific need, creating a new initiative, or organising an event, we support parental initiatives by providing the framework, resources, and assistance needed to bring them to fruition.
A Rewarding Commitment
Getting involved in the association not only contributes to the common good but also allows you to develop your skills and experience a fulfilling collective journey.
It’s an opportunity to meet other parents with shared concerns and work together to build sustainable solutions.
Several ways to get involved
Bringing Your Professional and Personal Expertise
Every parent has skills, professional experience, or personal talents that can enrich our association.
Whether you work in law, medicine, education, technology, the arts, or any other field, your expertise and personal experience can make a difference. We value this diversity of skills, which allows us to tackle challenges from different perspectives and propose innovative solutions.
Becoming a Class Representative / Class Liaison Parent
The role of class representative parent offers a structured opportunity for engagement.
As a class representative, you act as a liaison between families and the association, participate in key meetings, and contribute to strategic decision-making. This responsibility enables you to have a direct impact on the direction and priorities of the association.
Representing the Voice of Parents
Member parents play a fundamental role in representation within various councils and committees.
Your presence ensures that the concerns, expectations, and proposals of families are voiced and advocated for in decision-making bodies (School Board, School Council, various Committees, etc.). This authentic representation helps align the association’s actions with the realities on the ground.
